As tired as we were last night, we did not sleep well at all. Rebecca has an big problem with feathers in bedding. We knew that so always request housekeeping bring a couple foam pillows for her. The problem was there was a duvet (feather in it) covering the bed instead of a blanket. So at about 2:00am she was awake due to her nose being stopped up and could not breathe. Of course when she is awake so am I. She tried nose spray and saline spray but no help. Finally after about 3 hours we tried pulling the duvet down to our waist and using bath towels (they have big bath sheets, I believe they are called) for our covers. I think we finally dosed off after 5:00am. We woke up at 10:00am so finally got some rest. Of course we missed breakfast now.
I got dressed and went down to the front desk. Monica was back this morning so I explained our problem with duvets. She was super nice and called the supervisor of housekeeping to ask they remove the duvet and bring us a blanket. So as we missed breakfast at the hotel I went across to McDonalds to get Rebecca some scrambled eggs. Well, they do not have scrambled eggs. So I ordered her an egg McMuffin with sausage (she just eats the egg and sausage) and a ham & cheese croissant for me. No cream for coffee either! They use steamed milk instead.
By the time I got back to the room, two housekeeping ladies show up to redo our bedding. Clean sheets and a small blanket. The blanket only covered half the bed so I asked for three more. Well, they came back with two more which they said was all they had. We will make due and can use towels again if need be.
When I was down at the front desk a Miami based American Airlines B-777 crew was just checking in after their all night flight. American has a non-stop flight to here from Miami. There were also several other folks checking in since Royal Caribbean and NCL cruise lines also have cruises departing here tomorrow. I can foresee elevator waits and taxi wait tomorrow morning at the hotel.
I ran over to the mall and got another bottle of chardonnay and a couple empanadas at 1:00pm. Rebecca decide not to get wet and stayed in hotel. It stopped raining however as I left the hotel.
I went down later this afternoon for a walk but stated talking to a couple near the bar with Houston Astros t-shirts on. They are boarding the RCL Harmony cruise ship tomorrow. We had a nice long chat about cruising. Next thing I know it was 20 minutes until happy hour so went back to change and get Rebecca.
We had our usual two free glasses of chardonnay with tapas then we ordered dinner. The hotel restaurant is not open for dinner, just breakfast. Another covid thing here in Barcelona. The food was not bad and price ok.
Now we are back in the room enjoying some of the chardonnay I bought today. I think the maid will be getting most of it. Seems our room air conditioning is not working so there is a maintenance guy here working. He asked if we could change rooms and we said NO! They will be glad to see us leave tomorrow!! Air conditioning still not working as it should.
Plan is to leave here at 11:30 tomorrow morning as our assigned boarding time is noon. The time in Spain changes tonight. Clocks go back one hour tonight. I could not set our clock so maintenance brought us a new one this afternoon. Another problem! So the alarm clock we brought is set for 7:30 get up. Won't miss breakfast tomorrow!! Just hope we can sleep tonight.
